Bryson City, NC 28713
The medal was awarded at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympic Games to Joe Jacobi in the sport of Whitewater Canoe Kayak Slalom.
The missing 1992 Olympic Gold Medal was in a backpack that was removed from a vehicle at a parking lot behind La Fonda Latina on Holcomb Bridge Road in Atlanta, Georgia on the afternoon of June 6, 2016 around 6:15pm by men who smashed the window of the car and took the bag from a back seat.
The contents of that backpack – except the Olympic Medal – were found the next day near the trash bins/dumpster at Seven 7 Courts Apartments on 2800 Martin Luther King, Jr Drive in Atlanta, Georgia
The medallion seen in photo #1 was discovered along a stretch of Hollywood Road NW where it intersects Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW in Atlanta.
We will be searching that area and post whether we have successfully located the remaining portion.
